A few of my favorite friends hit the half century mark this year; God forbid I miss an opportunity to jest. I thought a little sweetness would go well with the 50 black balloons , etc that mysteriously appeared at their homes. And who doesn’t love an old fashioned candy gram…
I LOVE the “50” shaped cookies! My mother is turning 50 next week and I think I will try and do something similar. Did you have a cookie cutter or mold or something? Or did you make the “5-0” by hand?
Hi Christina! The numbers 5 and 0 were made using cookie cutters. I can’t remember exactly where I got this number set but I often order from http://www.cookiecuttercompany.com/ or http://www.karenscookies.net/Cookie-Cutters_c_17.html (they are both efficient and speedy). If the timing is too close or you don’t want to make the investment, my fallback is always card stock … Find a font you like on Word or other such site and size them according to how big you want the cookie to be. Print it out on card stock and cut out shape (or trace on old cereal box/cardboard after printing out on regular paper). Place on dough and carefully cut around edge with sharp knife. You may have to pick up the raw dough cookie and smooth the outside before baking. Good luck! I hope this helps!
