I was humbled to be a part of Operation Cookie Takeover this October. These cookies went out to an active duty Marine stationed abroad. In addition to active duty military, a big thank you goes out to all of our veterans; I can’t imagine what it must take. Much obliged to Melanie at Killer Zebras for the perfect thank you stencil and accompanying cookie cutter.

For Shore I am Grateful
So I just got a little education about the New Jersey shoreline. Never knew about Long Beach Island before this summer and boy, was I missing out. I also learned the “Don’t Give Up the Ship” story, as this flag flies at the host’s house. …thought about using more word play but one has to draw the line in the sand somewhere.
You’re ‘da Bomb
It takes a special family to host a student on internship for the whole summer; this is the thank you that went to that family. Can you guess where she interned/where they lived? Yep, you got it. Los Alamos, home to the famous Laboratory (ahem, nerd internship perfection) and birthplace of the first atomic bomb. This set was my homage to that notable (??? notorious) distinction.
Background stencils from the lovely Melanie at Killer Zebras. Silver Sheen airbrush color from Americolor Corp. Silver disco dust on “thank you” from Sunflower Sugar Art.
Hands Down
So many interested stories to cookie.fy. There were on a field trip to VA, far away from CO, when it happened. Let’s just say it involved a nail, her daughter’s pointer and middle fingers, and the emergency room. At least she is a lefty and the injuries were on the right hand… These cookies were a thank you to the administrator who took wonderful care of her, while keeping the parents appraised of the situation. The daughter and caretaker missed the tour of Mt Vernon- thus the inclusion of President Washington.
