Quarter of a Century

Twenty five years on this planet! It only makes “cents” to celebrate with a cookie for every one of those beautiful years. Happy quarter of a century, Kendra (she turned 25 in June. I’m a tad bit late in posting. It’s 2020 timing.)!

“Herd” it’s your Birthday

Our ‘deerly’ beloved eldest turns 30 today.  Is there a story behind deer and our family? I ‘herd’ that it is so… These cute, aah.doe.able cookies were cut out using several fabulous and sturdy Ann Clark cutters. As the desired look was to have them be “fawning” over each other, I baked a base of chocolate chip cookie dough (double Nestle semi-sweet batch to make the “ground”- two 9×12″ pan size fit perfectly into a regular BRPboxshop cake box). Long cocktail picks that i added to the back of each deer (after front decoration was complete and dried) lent support to hold these delicate legged creatures upright. Stiff royal icing was used to cover the picks. Icing color was a mix of Americolor Ivory with a touch of chocolate brown.  I had a little bit of extra dough/doe after rolling out 31 deer (always make one extra in case of accidents) so I added a few sayings from her early childhood to polish off the delivery.

Thanksgiving 2019

My favorite holiday.  Stuffed with gratitude and full bellies. 7F935DC2-838E-4539-83EB-24A2C136E36D.JPG

She said OUI!

Such a romantic.  He took her on a trip to Paris and, in the most lovely of settings complete with music, he asked her to marry him.  Je t’adorABLE!!!  At the celebration back home, cookies were served. Paris puns predicted??? Oui indeed.  Here is a sampling from the set (yep, I neglected to get photos of the whole bunch before they went out the door. Oops.):

LobstAH

Ahhhhh.  Maine in the summer.  Truly a slice of heaven on earth.  Friends invited us up for a concert, good company, and a traditional lobster dinner! I had to think of something CLAWsome to bring with us and here is the resulting gift box.  Please forgive the misspelling of buoy.  Didn’t catch my error until we were already on our way.  Still , they are cookies… they put their indignation aside.

TREEmedous

It is my tradition to create a “punny” cookie set for my friend Kathy’s birthday.  She has the mother of all green thumbs and her garden is a wonder to behold. Her produce has inspired many a cookie veggie tale.  But lately, she has also been planting a veritable forest of trees on her property.  Mother Nature is so proud.

Oh yeah.  And she made me this incredible charcuterie board I used to stage the cookies!!

Are you ready for a hiSSSSSSSSterical Pi day? “Count” me and my π.thon in on celebrating our most irrational moment. Now go get you geek on!

I before E

A little irony before the end of the year. The English language both/often perplexes and amazes me.  2018 sure had some unique word choices.   ….exceptions to the rule or exceptional?

Synonym Buns

Actual cinnamon buns in the oven led to synonym buns. Which got me on a roll that led to some pretty silly cookies. Seriously though, the English language and I have a long and convoluted relationship. Come along while I navigate my cookie-documented IDIOMactic journey!
