Breast Cancer Awareness Month

These cookies are a tribute to one AMAZING woman who, while fighting breast cancer, continued to train and successfully competed in an iron man competition.  She then topped that off with a marathon.  Some people defy the imagination.

When she was going through her treatment, she and her friends would wear pink wigs in solidarity and they had little paper baseball caps on a stick that were part of their celebrating “fun without cancer.”  I can cer vive.jpg

The Door is always Open

Instructions: old school classroom doors, Room 202. Got it. Meanwhile, I am inspired by (the many fabulous cookie decorators out there but on this day) the water color effect used by the unbelievable, uber talented Angela at The Painted Box.  And also the mad skill painting of A+++ artist Molly at TheGingerBites. And the results were…

So Engaging

There is so much more to being engaged now than when I was going through that moment of my life. Now there are fun ways to ask friends and family to be in the bridal party (ahem, like cookie boxes!) and the wonderful news is celebrated with engagement parties.  Definitely showing my age by becoming aware of such norms just within the past year or two…

A wonderful repeat customer’s daughter just became engaged and I was so happy to create the “will you be my bridesmaid” boxes and the cookies for the engagement party.  Thanks Jennifer!!!

Get Nauti

Joan and Steve have floated into wedded bliss. Joan has sailed all of her life, even traveling abroad to compete for her university team! So it made complete sense that they choose a nautical theme for their ocean side wedding. May their marriage be ‘anchored’ by humor and commitment and their love be as wide as the sea.

Snark Attack

This may or may not have been one of my favorite sets ever to create. Wisecracking was dripping off of my icing bag. I would go so far as to say it was total SASSafras. Maybe or maybe not a little close to home????

Gettin’ Schwifty

I am continually amazed by what I learn doing research for cookie sets.  This job keeps me young and in the know.  Rick and Morty is an adult animated sci-fi action sitcom that was based on a parody of Back to the Future.  It follows a cynical mad scientist and his grandson on their weird and wacky adventures. Apparently, we forgot to tell kids that this late night cartoon was not supposed to be for children. Here was my take for 9 year old’s birthday party.

Army Strong

Another cookie set sent to the troops abroad.  Although I do not know the young man who will receive these cookies, I hope he feels my/our support.

I air brushed a just baked cookie with three colors, ivory, forest green, yellow- shown here (sorry about the out of focus picture). Then I used a 20 second stiff icing to outline the perimeter and word.  Flooded w 10 second icing and, while still wet, placed little starts from a Texan Sprinkles mix for the just right bling.

You’re so Fly

Several times a year I send cookies to service members serving abroad.  This batch made their way to a young man in the Air Force. My thanks in word and cookie.

For Shore I am Grateful

So I just got a little education about the New Jersey shoreline.  Never knew about Long Beach Island before this summer and boy, was I missing out.  I also learned the “Don’t Give Up the Ship” story, as this flag flies at the host’s house. …thought about using more word play but one has to draw the line in the sand somewhere.
