Happy New Year 2015

Again with the small bites for many people.  I’m hoping to spread cookie kindness like confetti tonight.  Lots of food will be offered so these little guys will fit the grazing mentality.  Here’s to a delectable and delightful start to 2015!  Cheers!

Can you tell me a little about the birthday boy, I say?  Well…he likes beer, she says.  Interesting thing to say off the bat- anything more, I ask?  He likes Michelob, regular.  And he has a pontoon boat and likes Dale Jr.  And it’s a ‘turning 50’ party blow out, she adds.  Is it okay to tease him about his milestone age?  Please do.  And away I go…

It’s his 50th birthday:

Been wanting to use another of John Atkinson original designs (Wrong Hands blog site– such funny comics with wit and grit)!  Thanks again to John for allowing me permission to put it on a cookie!

The two platters for the party.  The funniest part of this whole order was the set of pictures sent by the party host.  2 were from when Tony was young; then several were from a party in Canada where some over-imbibement happened.  I was specifically instructed to include the on.all.fours.and.hurling photo.  That was a first for this cookier!

Oh Boy!

Something in the water.  Lots and lots of baby boys lately.  For this 20 cookie order, I was given some wonderful details with which to work.  Like the fact that Caelan had arrived on his actual due date.  I cannot remember that last time I heard of that happening.  Thus, the cookie in the back (sorry, forgot to take an individual pic) had 3 speech bubbles: due date: Apr 7  arrival date: Apr 7  ‘this boy already has his act together’.  You know how I love a good play on words.  This resulted in the SONshine cookie.  I wanted to use springlike colors so I used a nice robin egg blue with a happy Easter egg yellow as the color theme.   Cute, eh?DSC_0656 DSC_0654 DSC_0646 DSC_0650 DSC_0676 DSC_0672

Petals in my Pocket

So this centerpiece platter is a perfect example of how my brain plays “association.”  I latch on to a thread (spring time bridal shower and the bride.to.be’s love of  happy flowers) and off my thoughts go!  What is happier than daisies, right?  Jump to “he loves me”, “he loves me not.”  No negativity at such a happy occasion so that becomes “he loves me lots.”  Which also rhymes with “we’re tying the knot.” And you pick a petal, so a big cookie that does so too, why not?  And as I think of multiple daisies, I start humming the song “Daisy Bell” (circa 1892, thank you Harry Dacre).  ***Google “Daisy Bell” and you will find a fun story about the origin of the lyrics– it always comes back to either love or money or both! Or Hal from the movie: 2001, a Space Odyssy***  Floated around the idea of using the “I’m half crazy” part but opted for a more appropriate “give me your answer” nod to the wedding vow “I do!”  and placed that with the bicycle built for two! Back to picking things, the bride picked the groom and visa versa and Bob’s your uncle, platter is planned!  Anyway, hope you’re not half crazy following my creation process.  um.  Enjoy the pictures, at least?
