Move over, York. These peppermint Patties are made with chocolate shortbread (thank you for sharing the recipe Lila Loa) and standard buttercream icing flavored with peppermint extract. Crushed a couple of peppermint candies to decorate the borders and voila. Very Minteresting!
My Mom would be happy- cookies made using her vintage cutters from the 1950’s. I grew up with these shapes, this type of glaze, accompanied with jimmies and colored sugars. It’s like going home.
Then there is the reason for the season. Some straw in the manager and a very bright star.

The colors have been amazing here in Buffalo. Maple and oak and birch make for a lovely mix. The temperature is dropping now as are the leaves. Cookies in tribute to the stunning fall display courtesy of our yard (last 4 pics).

“Periodically,” (ha, get it?) my inner nerd comes out and plays. The perfect opportunity arose with Alyssa’s graduation party. Beautiful, bright and talented, Alyssa has quite the affinity for book learning and the sciences. Although I couldn’t fit the entire periodic table of elements into the cake box, it was close enough.
