One might say that I am a bit sPUNky at Halloween. No BONES about it…
This particular set is in Sister Bay, WI , participating in the GoBo cookie sale (funds used in the fight against childhood cancer). Massive quantities of good looking sugar. October 13-15. If you are near by, please consider supporting the cause!

Dear Halloween: I get it. You’re spooky. All that creaking and moaning is very expressive. But I am just not that into the scary vibe. I’d rather flaunt my haunt with a flavor of fun. Turning word play possibilities into probabilities. Hope we can still be friends. My best, MMB
Here are the cookies that went out to the GoBoBakeSale this year (fundraiser for ALS).
How can you be incredibly, at the deepest darkest depths, sad and yet excited at the same time? Well, Megan is one of my favorite Zumba instructors (and I AM PICKY about my instructors!); this very same Megan decided to adventure in Spain! As in a permanent move!!! So excited for her. So sad for us. This was the platter I made for her before she left. Puns included. As always. Hope you’re loving life over there, Megan! Miss you!
Hope you are the toast of the town this New Years Eve! Here’s to a wonderful and adventurous 2016.
And, I promise, this is my last word play for 2015… 🙂
Boxed and ready for our New Years host.
#truth My never ending love of puns extends to every food experience. Just one trip to my favorite sushi restaurant and these little jokesters started hanging around IG (yep, you can find me at MamaMayerBakery on Instagram). Oh, and it’s been a summer of humorous inspiration. Just you wait.
I was invited to go over to a friend’s house for tea, which made me think of a tea party (all proper with pinkies extended), and then Boston, and then the yellow flag with a snake that says “don’t tread on me”, and then all of the possible mutations of “T”, tee, tea, bag, etc? My mind works in mysterious ways. And “works” is a questionable categorization. These are but a few of the possibilities:
(PS: Thanks to the magnificent Arty McGoo for allowing me to personify her on a tea bag cookie. With utter jaw-dropping talent and a playful nature, Liz has the whole package; I am ever grateful for her inspiration and hysterical sense of humor.)
Puns, play on words, letter rearrangements… I have serious issues.
2 shakes of a lamb’s tail
Hare today, (hair) gone tomorrow
What exactly is a normal person? I’m still waiting to meet that normal family or witness that normal life. Thank goodness no 2 people think alike. How boring this world would be if we did?
So, I’m going to embrace the fact that my brain function might be considered abnormal. Might? How about we give it a classification of atypical and call it a day? Here is how my mind intertwines with valentines.
I choose you.
Top row cookies pay homage to Buffalo, NY. We like things spicy 🙂 The next several designs came to mind while listening to Usher’s song Scream. You’re hypnotic, magnetic…
And lastly, in cahoots with some fruits… also my version of Valentine nutrition. sigh.
Breakfast cookies? Well, technically we were invited to brunch so all bets were off (um. You already know I am “off”). The traditional egg and bacon breakfast first came to mind (some clever cookie-rs have gone down that route). But fate stepped in; the movie we were watching contained a song from the early 80’s. Okay, Elton John and Kiki Dee sang theirs in the mid 70s but its close enough. Hope you will forgive me…
