This valentine is for all those fishermen (or women) out there. Valentine’s Day is the season of puns so I’ve SCALED up my production.
Who doesn’t love a cheesy Valentine? Well, this is certainly one of my GRATEst ever. So zesty. Ripping the word play to shreds!
A healthy dose of Colorado’s history circles around miners. Some became quite wealthy and you can still visit their homes today (ie- the unsinkable Molly Brown. Actually, she was never called Molly until the movie; she went by Maggie or Margaret.). You can also tour the Colorado School of Mines impressive gem and mineral collection for free (and I have). So when I hear, BE MINE, I don’t think of the usual Valentine. I went for a more literal interpretation. Courtesy of those beautiful, rugged Rockies (filled with all kinds of “rocks”), I give you a gem of a valentine… And thank you Neil Young. Can’t get that song out of my head. Let the 2016 valentine season begin. First up is my ode to Star Wars 2016. It’s a War on word play.

This gingerbread ornament was my contribution to a project organized and installed by LoveBugCookies (per the annual holiday gingerbread cookie collaboration started years ago by TheCookieArchitect). A ‘tree’ filled gingerbread ornaments from around the US/world was placed at the Boulder Crest Retreat for Military and Veteran Wellness in DC. In keeping with my style, I created to a punny ornament that hopefully made our veterans pause for a moment and then smile. Thank you Beth. Thank you Rebecca. Thank you very much, veterans and military personnel.
Hope you ride the gravy train over the turkey terrain to Mount Mashed Potato. May your pies pile up to the skies.
